Kenya launches program to protect giraffes from extinction

The government of Kenya with support from Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced a program today (November 21) aimed at protecting the dwindling giraffe population.

The strategy will be carried forward through communities and landowners to halt the decline in the number of these mammals after three decades of consecutive losses due to human activities and natural disasters.

Drone footage shows a group of adult giraffes running across the savanna in Amboseli National Park in southern Kenya.

The clip was captured on April 14, 2017.
