Leyburn residents wade through floodwater after heavy downpours hit North Yorkshire

Residents of Leyburn town in North Yorkshire, England, were caught walking through floodwaters following heavy downpours.

The rain wreaked havoc in the north of England, damaging properties and causing travel disruption in the area.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service received more than one hundred calls to flooding in Leyburn and Reeth.

Resident Andrew Hinds told Newsflare: ''Over a month's rainfall in one hour.

''When will governments take meaningful action in response to the climate emergency.''

More rain is expected in the next few days.
