Lions on the line! Driver halts train due to wild big cats

An Indian train driver was forced to stop on Friday when he encountered three lions lying right beside the tracks.

An unusual video, which was filmed in Gir in the state of Gujarat, shows the train at a standstill as the big cats rest in the shade.

Eventually, the felines get up and walk away from the track, allowing the train to continue on his way.

The Asiatic lion's range is restricted to the Gir National Park and the surrounding area.

The species has recovered from the brink of extinction and there are now about 650 individuals, according to a 2017 report.
