Man with Down's Syndrome secures scaffolding apprenticeship despite condition

A young gentleman from Swindon who has Down's Syndrome is living his 'dream' after a supportive building firm took him on as an apprentice scaffolder.

Todd Scanlon, 29, has been employed on a permanent, part-time basis by Coles Scaffolding Contractors Ltd after repeated request for work from Scanlon.

Scanlon had 'begged' scaffold company owner Martyn Coles, 35, for a job for the last two years. Currently he is employed and working for them two full days-a-week.

Coles, who has run the scaffolding company which is based in Wiltshire for the last five years, has said Todd's disability is not holding him back.
