Massive ash cloud billows into air in North Sumatra following volcano's eruption

A huge column of ash was blasted almost seven kilometres into the sky of Karo in North Sumatra, following a nine-minute eruption of Mount Sinabung volcano on Sunday (June 9).

Footage captured on June 10 shows a massive cloud of volcanic ash emerging from the volcano’s crater.

Although no casualties were reported, residents were urged to use masks to protect themselves from the ash.
