Massive property devastation after a monster tornado rips through Jefferson City, Missouri USA


A huge tornado has left a trail of destruction after it ripped through Jefferson City, Missouri on May 22.

The storm was rated a category EF-3 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which means winds of up to 160 mph attacked the Missouri capital throughout the night.

Touching down around 11.40pm the monster twister wreaked havoc throughout the city by turning over cars and ripping up buildings. The National Weather Service said that debris was thrown up to 13,000 feet in the air.

The filmer first captures the horrific storm at night as lightning illuminates it like a monster from a horror film looming in the darkness. A number of funnels forming can also be seen hanging from the enormous black clouds.

The filmer then goes on to film the city after the storm has run its course. The footage shows damaged vehicles and a building front that has been completely decimated.

The film them shows just how bad the extent of the damage is the following day. Cars are covered in rubble and rubbish, roof tops lay collapsed on the floor and whole buildings seem to have been completely obliterated.
