Men left hanging metres in the air after crane falls in freak accident

This was the shocking moment a freak accident caused a crane at a Guatemalan port to topple over, leaving workers hanging precariously a dangerous distance from the ground.

The footage captured last Wednesday (November 21) by one dock worker shows the red crane moving a counterweight from the larger grey crane, causing it to lose balance and collapse to the ground.

As the heavy machinery descends it collides with an industrial lifter, leaving two workers hanging off the side metres above the ground.

The filmer said: "They didn't have a harness for this kind of accidents, so this shows that in Guatemala there are no safety measures in this line of work."

He later added: "Thank God no one was seriously injured."
