Millions attend world's largest chariot festival in India

Millions of devotees flocked to the coastal town of Puri in the eastern state of Odisha in eastern India, to attend the annual Rath Yatra festival on July 12.

The world's largest chariot festival sees devotees taking three Hindu gods - Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra - out of their home temple in a colourful procession to another temple.

Footage shows massive wooden chariots making their way through crowds through the city.

As per legend, the deities come out of their abode annually to give darshan to all devotees, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
