Monkey burned after rickshaw accident is treated with ointment for its injuries

A monkey that was burned after an accident involving an auto-rickshaw in west India was treated with ointment for its injuries in this heartwarming video.

Agni, the young macacque, can be seen in the video, filmed on January 22, being lathered with cream to treat her burn injuries, obediently moving her head, neck and paws delicately as the ointment is smeared over her.

Agni was electrocuted and was running in distress on the streets of Mankhurd near Mumbai in Maharashtra state, when a group of 4 autodrivers named Dilip Kumar Rajbhar, Siraj Khan, Sabhajit Rai and Mahesh Rai spotted her.

At that time her face and body was severely burnt due to electrocution.

Since the four auto-drivers fed her daily, they took charge and rescued her, spending an entire day finding a veterinary doctor and getting the monkey treated.

After a lot of struggle, the auto drivers managed to locate a vet to ensure she gets timely treatment.

They took her to Dr Rina Dev's Clinic in Bandra and waited and even assisted her throughout the treatment.

After which, under the guidance of the forest department, Agni was handed over to Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare.

A blood test has shown that she is doing much better, said Dr Rina Dev: “But her vision is surely impaired due to the electric shock. We will run an ophthalmic check soon."
