Multiple injuries at the 2019 cheese rolling contest in the UK

Watch this dramatic footage of people throwing themselves down Cooper's Hill at the annual cheese-rolling contest in Gloucestershire, England on May 27.

The bizarre tradition sees brave men and women risk injury to chase a piece of cheese down a hill.

The festival dates back to the 1800s and takes place every late May Bank Holiday.

Footage shows multiple competitors running down a steep hill after a wheel of cheese has been rolled down the hill before them.

Many of the contestants fall over while running down and their body's become like a ragdoll as they flop and flounder uncontrollably down the hill.

The filmer captures many competitors laying on the ground in pain as emergency services attend to them.

There are also images of race winners lifting the wheel of cheese above their head after they have run the gauntlet and become the first down the hill.
