Newborn Bison Calf Swims Across Lamar River

Occurred on May 29, 2025 / Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA

Info from Licensor: "This past May in Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley, I witnessed one of the most intense wildlife moments of my life.

A newborn bison calf attempted to cross the Lamar River and was immediately swept downstream by the powerful current. On the opposite bank, its mother waited anxiously, as the calf struggled in the icy water.

A crowd quietly gathered, holding their breath and cheering the calf on as it fought the freezing river fed by melting mountain snow for nearly six long minutes.

Against all odds, the calf made it across.
What made the moment even more incredible was realizing the calf still had its umbilical cord attached. A true testament to the strength and resilience of bison."
