Notre-Dame covered in tarpaulin to protect it from expected rain

Workers installed protective material over parts of the stricken Notre Dame cathedral as rain is forecast for Paris over the coming days.

Nine days after the fire that destroyed the cathedral roof, footage filmed today (April 24) shows the famed stained glass windows covered with tarp and reinforced with timber.

According to local news outlets, plans to erect a giant "umbrella" on the roof are in place to protect the structure while reconstruction takes place.
