Old man rescued by police after falling into icy river in China

Policemen rescued an elderly man in his 80s that fell into an icy river in Beijing on January 28.

Video of the scene shows a policeman trying to use a tree branch to pull the old man up, but falling into the river as the surface of the ice breaks.

Another policeman tries to help but is dragged into the river by the old man.

With the help of other police officers, firefighters and nearby citizens, the old man is pulled out of the river and dragged to the shore safely.

The old man, as well as two other policemen who were injured during the rescue, were sent to hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, they were all not in life-threatening condition.
