Parisians applaud firefighters following Notre Dame fire

People applaud Paris' firefighters in their trucks for the work they did to stop the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame Cathedral on Monday evening (April 15).

The flames that began in the early evening spread quickly through the centuries-old cathedral roof and engulfed the spire, which collapsed, quickly followed by the entire roof.

While it was burning in the evening, firefighters fought to prevent the fall of one of the main bell towers. One firefighter was seriously injured - the only reported victim.

A Paris fire official announced that they had saved the two towers and the main structure of Notre Dame.

In the video, we can see people clapping as fire trucks pass through the streets of the capital.
