Pelican fearlessly rides post-hurricane waves on Florida beach

Hurricane Michael made landfall on Mexico Beach, located along the Florida Panhandle, on October 10

This video, filmed on Siesta Key Beach, shows a large brown pelican riding the post-hurricane waves days after the storm hit.

Michael has left at least 18 hurricane-related deaths, the number feared to rise as rescue crew continue to search through collapsed homes and rubble. Mexico Beach mayor Al Cathey told media that 46 people were still missing or unaccounted for.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees are beginning visits to shelters and damaged neighborhoods to start registering people for federal assistance that is available to residents after a disaster, according to local reports.
