Police catch runaway chimpanzee who escaped from its enclosure in Chinese zoo

Police caught a chimpanzee that had escaped from its enclosure at Hefei Wildlife Park on July 12.

The CCTV video shows a group of visitors running out of the zoo gates as the runaway chimpanzee chasing after them.

After all the people escaped, the staff closed the door and locked the chimpanzee inside the zoo.

A keeper that showed up was attacked and pushed to the ground by the monkey.

Then the chimpanzee can be seen climbing onto a roof where a policeman shoots it with a tranquillizer gun.

Although the chimp pulled the tranquilizer needle out immediately, it soon became unconscious.

The police eventually captured the chimpanzee and no one was injured.
