Police officer chases runaway suspect on foot for whole kilometre after he breaks free

A police officer in Anhui, a province located in China's east, chased a runaway suspect for a full kilometre when he broke free of another officer's hold upon exiting a police car.

The incident happened on November 24.

In the video, the police officer can be seen running closely behind the 32-year-old suspect, Zhang, in an attempt to catch up to him. He comes close several times, and after about one kilometre, the suspect – appearing to have given up – was found squatting on the ground.

According to local media, the officer was identified as 50-year-old Xu Wei and is known for his athletic abilities.
