River of floating candles in Thailand's Loy Krathong festival

A beautiful river of floating candles in Thailand's Loy Krathong festival.

The scene was captured in Samut Songkhram province where locals sent the Krathong baskets stuffed with candles and incense sticks out onto the Mae Klong river.

The annual Buddhist festival honours the goddess of water and takes place under the full moon each November.

Locals believe that by releasing the lanterns onto rivers, lakes and into the sea, it will bring good luck for the year ahead.
