Sandbags fail to stop flooding as Canada's highest water level continues to rise

Seagulls and swans took over land that has been submerged underwater at Port Dalhousie in Ontario, Canada.

Sandbags failed to stop water from approaching the steps of a local lighthouse when the video was taken Saturday, June 1.

The filmer said: "Water levels have reached the highest level in history, the waterfront area is flooded and underwater as is the case with many towns along the shores of Lake Ontario this spring."

Local media have reported that the shoreline of Lake Ontario is to continue to rise this week.
