Info from Licensor: "I was able to pick up a huge sheet of ice and toss it ever so perfectly in front of the camera where the shatter took place on what looks like a soft blanket of snow. Then they shattered disperses imitating sounds like glass breaking, plates breaking, or even Lego projects breaking."
