Saving Pigs from a Bush Fire

Occurred on April 16, 2021 / Eatonville, Washington, USA

Info from Licensor: My cousin Trudy and I were on the way home from hiking when we saw the smoke. We turned off onto Jensen road to make sure everyone was okay since I live nearby. When we drove to the scene we saw that people were frantically trying to get their animals out of harm's way of the brush fire. We put into action and opened up all the gates to let out the chickens, goats, dogs, and horses. Once they got away from the fire and smoke, we had to capture them and get them into the homeowner's trailers which was not an easy task. The pigs did not want to go willingly as you can see in all the squealing. We did not have much time because embers were falling down everywhere and starting things on fire. They were landing in my hair and I kept having to brush them off. It took a little while for the fire department to come and start extinguishing a fire. All the animals were saved. This fire was caused by an of-control burn pile. We had not had rain for at least 10 days and it was very dry and windy. We said a prayer for the family that their homes would not burn down. All the main structures were saved and we were very grateful.
