Sea lion clambers for shade in garden as temperatures soar in southern Australia

A curious sea lion was spotted miles away from the ocean in the Australian state of Tasmania yesterday (January 2).

The marine mammal was found in the back garden of a house in rural Tasmania.

In the video, the sea lion can be seen wandering in the garden until it finds a shade and lies on the grass.

The animal is then hosed down - seemingly happy to feel the fresh water on its skin.

The filmer commented: "He went through countless fences to get to us, so we had to ring parks and wildlife to come and load him into the sea lion trailer and relocate him.

"It is the first time I've ever seen one other than a couple times they've released them at the beach "

The heat in Tasmania has been reaching temperatures above twenty-five degrees Celsius this week.
