Sick elephant has to be craned upright to receive medicine in north India


A sick elephant named Lakshmi collapsed onto her side near a forest in north India on Saturday (March 23), and had to be lifted upright with a crane to receive some injections.

Lakshmi was spotted by local people near the Ramnagar forest area in Uttarakhand who contacted officials from the Forest department, who assisted in lifting her upright with a crane to give her some injections.

Reportedly she was too weak to return to the forest and is still receiving treatment as time of reporting (March 25) to reduce swelling in her legs.
