Smoke billows from Walthamstow shopping centre fire

A shopping centre in Walthamstow, east London, has been ravaged by fire this morning (July 22), resulting in 15 fire engines and over 125 firefighters responding.

The shopping centre named The Mall on Selborne Road caught fire at around 7:45 am.

Black plumes of smoke can be seen billowing from the blazing roof.

The filter said: “There were around twenty fire engines and one hundred firefighters

“My partner saw the fire.

“The wind was blowing in the opposite direction so [the] smoke didn’t get in.

“[There were] helicopters flying around.”
