Smugglers caught with £78,000 worth of endangered animals in Indonesia

Animal smugglers were caught at the port of Dumai, Indonesia trafficking seven endangered species out of the country.

Filmed on June 26, the video shows the recovered animals being looked after and the two suspects, aged 27 and 40, being held by the local authorities.

The smugglers attempted to sneak three baby orangutans, two long-tailed monkeys, one gibbon and a binturong, estimated to be worth around 1.4bn IDR (£78,000) in the exotic pet market.
