Snake rescuer halts traffic to help cobra cross busy road in India

Manas Ranjan Mohanty, a member of Snake Helpline, rescued a cobra crossing a busy road in India.

Manas spotted a large monocle cobra crossing a busy segment of Jajpur Road near Bhubaneswar, India.

He quickly got off his bike to shield the cobra from other vehicles on the road.

The other drivers, who saw what he was doing, also stopped their vehicles to let the cobra pass.

Subhendu Mallik, general secretary of Snake Helpline, said: "These drivers have set a good example at a time of increasing vehicular mortality of snakes.”
