Spanish firefighters continue to battle wildfire raging on holiday island


Firefighters are working to extinguish a wildfire raging on the holiday island of Gran Canaria that has forced hundreds to evacuate.

Footage captured on August 11 shows massive flames engulfing a mountain close to Tejeda town.

At least 1,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

According to local media, a reckless man working with a welding torch caused the first flames that later spread engulfing around 1,500 hectares.
