SpongeBob goes to space after GoPro attached to weather balloon is launched from US


Footage from the stratosphere shows a model SpongeBob Squarepants above the earth's surface near Grand Rapids, Michigan after being attached to a weather balloon.

The mission that started at the Byron Centre saw the figurine go up to 90,000 feet in just under two hours.

After reaching the peak height the balloon descended back to earth after a brief free fall.

The device also endured temperatures of minus sixty degrees (Fahrenheit).

The footage was filmed on July 7, 2015.
