Teenage girl rescued with pneumatic drill after falling down gap in pavement

A teenager was rescued with a pneumatic drill after falling down a crack in the pavement.

The 16-year-old girl was having a water fight with friends when she slipped on the uneven concrete in Samut Prakan, Thailand, on April 21 at around 7pm

She lost her footing and her left leg plunged into a gap between two pieces of concrete covering drains.

The girl was groaning in pain for an hour before the emergency services arrived at 8pm and spent another hour trying to free her.

Rescue workers used soapy water to try and loosen her limb but she remained stuck - until they used a pneumatic drill to chip away at the concrete.

She was eventually lifted out an hour later to cheers from neighbours who had gathered round and was t hen taken to hospital for a check-up.

Rescue foundation worker Bandit Chalawa said: ‘’When we arrived there were so many people all crowded round trying to pull her out. It was causing traffic jams on the road.

‘’It took an hour to remove the girl but she was not hurt. The residents will fix the crack now so nobody else can get stuck.’’
