This traditional form of Indonesian martial arts sees two people battle it out in a muddy rice field


This form of traditional martial arts is performed in the muddy rice fields of West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Competitors battle it out with their bare hands and even sharp knives in the watery arena of newly harvested rice fields,

The type of martial arts is called silek lanyah, a type of silat, and it is accompanied by traditional music instruments being played as the fight takes place, adding to the intense atmosphere.
