Thousands protest in Algiers as president bids for 5th term

Tens of thousands of Algerians protest across the country Friday as President Abdelaziz Bouteflika prepares to bid for a fifth term after already having served 20 years in power.

This footage was shot in the capital, Algiers, which was reportedly the site of dozens of injuries, as tear gas was deployed and demonstrators and police both threw stones and grenades at one another.

The election will take place on April 18.
