Traffic dodges bald eagles fighting on US highway

This was the patriotic moment two bald eagles came to blows on a US highway yesterday (February 17).

Both birds of prey were locked in aerial combat when one descended to the asphalt, forcing oncoming motorists to swerve out of the way.

The alpha eagle swoops down to finish the other bird off but is deterred by the approaching vehicles.

The filmer said: "I was driving on the New Jersey Turnpike when two bald eagles started fighting, then landed right in front of my car and quickly took off again.

"I did not hear or see them get hit so I think they both got off safely. Everyone ahead of me swerved out of the way and no one crashed."
