Tropical storm devastates parts of eastern Thailand


The effects of Tropical Storm Pabuk where felt in eastern Thailand this morning causing widespread flooding and collapsed buildings.

The devastating cyclone smashed into the southern coast yesterday causing powerful waves, heavy rain and winds. Hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists were evacuated and moved to temporary shelters while the storm passes.

Rayong, on the eastern seaboard of the country, experienced flooding as the weather spread across the Gulf of Thailand.

Footage taken this morning shows waves crashing into the shore. Homes along the coast were flooded, with many destroyed by the unseasonal rain.
