Typhoon Wipha brings strong rainstorms and floods to southern China's Haikou


Typhoon Wipha landed in southern China seeing strong rainstorms and flash floods hit the city of Haikou.

The video, filmed in Haikou city in Hainan province today (August 1), shows powerful wind and rain hitting the city and streets being submerged by the deep floodwater.

Police officers tried to clear the road by dragging the fallen trees to the side and rescuers arrived on an inflatable boat.

According to reports, the speed of the wind near the sea reached between 103 and117 km/h. The local meteorological observatory issued the red warning signal (the strongest level) for the rainstorm.
