Venezuelan migrants sell handcrafts made of worthless money in Colombia

Hyperinflation in Venezuela has made money so worthless that migrants are using their banknotes as a material for making handcrafts.

Footage shows Venezuelan migrants sewing notes to craft handbags and other accessories in the streets of Cucuta, Colombia, on November 11.

Handbags and wallets can be seen displayed for sale on stands across the Colombian city.

The political and economic crisis in Venezuela has forced people to flee the country hoping to find a better life abroad.

In 2017, Colombia received around 550.000 people from Venezuela and this number could double by the end of this year, according to official statistics.
