Watch how the Chinese Bai ethnic minority tie-dye clothes


This video from southwestern China of a woman and her friend showing how people from Bai ethnic minority tie-dye clothes.

In the clip, filmed in Dali City in Yunnan Province in 2018, the woman named Xiao Yun and her friend go through the whole process of tie-dying.

Tie-dye includes folding, twisting, pleating and binding with string or rubber bands before the application of the dyes.

The tie-dye technique was listed in the Chinese intangible cultural heritage list on May 20, 2006.
