West Bengal prepares for oncoming cyclone by CHAINING DOWN the trains


After hitting the states of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh today (May 3), Cyclone Fani is due to hit West Bengal tomorrow, causing rail staff in the state to take extreme precautions.

The railway department at Shalimar station in Howrah, West Bengal, has chained down standing trains to the tracks today, so that when the cyclone hits tomorrow the Kolkata-bound trains will not be overturned due to strong winds.

According to railway officials: "We have faced such a type of situation in the past, so this time we are taking all types of precaution so as to avoid any mishap."
