Wild monkeys go for a swim to stay cool in the summer heat

Monkeys near Chitradurga in southern India have found a way to survive the scorching summer heat - they gather at Chandravalli lake and spend all their time swimming.

They are fond of mangos, which fall into the lake from nearby orchards, and come floating. The primates dive into the water and swim to grab the fruit.

The sight of frolicking monkeys is drawing visitors from nearby villages and towns.

A local resident Girish Basappa said: ''Many are teasing monkeys and throwing food to the lake to make them dive.''
