Window washer killed by falling brick in Manhattan, NYC


A window washer died after being struck in the head by a falling brick while working on an Upper East Side building in New York City on Monday (April 8) around 12:15pm according to police.

The 51-year-old victim was washing windows at 311 E. 50th St. near Second Ave., a 14-story residential building, when a brick was knocked loose around noon by the apparatus used to secure his scaffolding to the building’s facade, authorities said.

In the video, we can see emergency services putting the victim in an ambulance.

A witnesses explains on camera that the victim "had blood all over his chest" when the rescue team arrived.

Another witness says it was "terrifying and really upsetting".

Medics took the victim, who lived in Queens, to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died.

His name was not immediately released.
