Yellow vest protests spread to the Netherlands

Scores of yellow vest protesters marched through Leeuwarden in the Netherlands on Saturday to protests the high cost of living.

The yellow vest protests began in France last month as a demonstration against fuel tax rises but have since morphed into a more general opposition to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Recently, protesters in Belgium and the Netherlands have begun their own marches also sporting the fluorescent yellow gilets.

The protests in France have frequently been accompanied by rioting and vandalism.
