At least three killed in "historic" central Texas floods

Widespread floods swept much of central Texas on October 16, with authorities announcing that at least three casualties have resulted from the tragedy.

The Llano River, as seen in the video, crested on Wednesday after rising to almost 40 feet. In Kingsland, the floodwaters overran a bridge, causing the structure to crumble under the pressure.

A state of emergency was declared in 18 counties, and several remained under flash flood warnings throughout the night.

Four floodgates were open at Mansfield Dam on Lake Travis as of Wednesday afternoon as the lake stood at 135 percent full at nearly 699 feet.
