Big Black Bear Swims Across Bay

Occurred on March 11, 2019 / Stumpy Point, North Carolina, USA

Info from Licensor: "I'm a kayak fishing guide here in North Carolina and today I had a buddy join me on the water! While fishing, we noticed a massive black blob on the other side of the bay walking the shoreline! I knew it had to be a black bear so my buddy and I started to paddle our way across the half mile stretch to where the bear was! About half way there, we noticed the bear had started to swim to a marsh point about a 1/2 mile away from where he started his swim! I met up with it about half way through his swim and stuck by him until he made it safely to the other side! I've never seen a bear swim like that let alone in the middle of the open sound! I wanted to make sure he made it safely, even though there wasn't much I could do but give him a little encouragement!"
