Elephant separated from herd strikes unlikely friendship with Indian bison

Residents of Coonoor, a forest district in Tamil Nadu, India, are amazed by a strong bond between an elephant and an Indian bison.

The two unlikely friends are always seen together, helping each other.

The elephant brings down heavy branches on which the bison feeds. The bison shows the elephant the correct path in the forest avoiding slippery mountain slopes.

Together they form an invincible pair which no predator can take down.

A forest official said the elephant separated from its herd accidentally and was perhaps feeling lost in the forest. “It came across the bison a few months ago and both have been together since then,” he added.
