Fisherman records rare encounter with swimming wild jaguar

This is the astonishing moment a boat captain saw a jaguar swimming in the water in front of him.

Sailing enthusiast Darryl Lozano was taking his vessel out for a day trip on Placencia lagoon in Belize when he noticed something strange in the water.

As he drew closer, the mystery creature became visible and it turned out be one of the beautiful big cats.

Darryl filmed the swimming feline as he came within a few feet of it in the Mango Creek area of the lake.

He said: ''This is why I love the outdoors. Wildlife is incredible.''
