New Zealander claims victory at British Open Speedgolf Championships held in Surrey

New Zealander Jamie Reid claimed victory at this year's British Open Speedgolf Championships held in Foxhills, Surrey.

Reid sealed success as he finished ahead of defending champion, PGA professional Chris Benians.

Speedgolf combines the total shots taken with the time taken to complete the entire 18 hole golf round.

The 28-year-old's faster pace over his rivals was the key, as he shot a nine-over-par 81 in just 40 minutes and 57 seconds to post his Speedgolf score of 121.57.

Remarkably, he did it without using a conventional putter to save weight and completed his entire round with just three clubs: a four-iron, seven-iron and a pitching wedge.
