Newborn robin joins siblings in touching nest time-lapse

Parents eat the shell of a latecomer baby robin, which shows the early bird might catch the worm but the late arrival can still join them!

This was the second batch of robins eggs in the filmer's nest when the video was taken in July last year, which rests under the wooden boards of their porch at their Washington state home.

The baby robin seen hatching here arrived one day after its siblings.

According to one online birdwatching outlet, a hatched baby robin's shell is eaten to restore valuable depleted minerals, such as calcium, back into the parent's bodies.
