People watch a destructive whirlwind form above their heads in Indonesia


People on the ground in western Indonesia yesterday (February 28) witnessed the early stages of a destructive whirlwind before it touched ground, destroying houses and wreaking havoc.

The jaw-dropping phenomenon was seen in Kupang, on Timor, at around 2.30 pm local time. According to the local authority, dozens of houses were destroyed as the extreme winds tore open roofs and walls.

Fortunately, so far there were no reported casualty from the rare disaster. However, the Indonesian meteorological agency has issued an alert to Kupang residents that there is still potential for strong wind hit the city in the next few days.
