Refugees battle winter living conditions in Greek camp

Refugees are enduring snow and freezing temperatures in tents at a camp in northern Greece as a cold snap hits the country.

Footage captured on January 9 shows the poor living conditions of families in Diavata camp, Thessaloniki, after it was blanketed in snow during a recent rash of cold weather.

Dozens of refugees denounced the lack of support in a protest earlier this week in which demonstrators burned tires and blocked a road outside the camp.

The Diavata camp has a capacity of 700 people but is currently hosting 1,400 people. The overcrowding issue forces some refugees to live in containers, agencies reported.
