Renowned local figure responsible for Headington Shark dies

Former BBC Radio Oxford presenter and renowned local figure Bill Heine has died of cancer aged 74.

Aside from broadcasting, Heine was famous for placing this giant sculpture of a shark on his roof in Oxford back in 1986.

The bizarre sight, which became known as The Headington Shark, was erected on the 41st anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.

It was designed by sculptor John Buckley and constructed by Anton Castiau, a local carpenter and friend of John Buckley.
