Storm Hannah leaves '2,500 without power and flights cancelled' in Ireland


Storm Hannah has arrived in southwest Ireland from the Atlantic coast this evening (April 26), reportedly leaving at least 2,500 households without power and flights cancelled.

Video filmed at Fenit in County Kerry shows a large white tent that has been destroyed as well as huge waves and spray at Fenit pier.

According to the filmer, the tent had been erected as part of a festival.

Video of a reading at a weather station shows a gust of 114 km/h.

The Irish Meteorological Service declared a status red wind warning for Kerry. It tweeted: "Northwesterly winds, associated with Storm Hannah, will reach mean speeds in excess of 80 km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h in places this evening between 6pm and 8pm."
